Read more: Kennedy Center Seminar for Artists All of Stuart's workshops include hands-on opportunities for participants to learn and practice artistic techniques. Through an arts integration approach, attendees learn how to address artistic and curricular goals simultaneously. Each inservice can be adapted to meet schedule constraints. Storytelling - An introduction to storytelling, with a focus on how teachers can lead their students through a storytelling unit in which children actually learn and tell a folk tale. Writing the Hero's Journey -Teaches how to use an oral foundation to encourage students' writing. This was developed with the Kennedy Center Washington, D.C. in 2003. Singing in the Circle - A music workshop on using and adapting songs with young children, emphasizing repetition, constructing relevant experiences, building relationships, and working toward literacy. Songwriting - Explores using songwriting as a vehicle to teach structure, rhyme, pattern and editing in a group writing situation. From Notes to Words - Focuses on connections between music and literacy. This workshop is specifically for elementary music teachers, and for classroom teachers who use or who want to use music as part of their teaching.
